It’s all in the network.  Ensure it’s optimized, secure and ready for growth.

Proactively prevent problems for increased productivity.

A computer network is like a car.  Cars have many moving components and variables that work together in unison.  It’s important to service it regularly in order to keep it performing at its peak.  If you fail to maintain the car properly, it’s only a matter of time before it breaks down – and not only can it break down at a bad time, it can be costly to fix once the damage has been done.  EngITeers, IT experts and savvy business individuals understand how risky and the potential costs of neglecting a network of computers.

Three potential pitfalls:

  • An unauthorized employee gains access to sensitive financial data
  • A spyware program secretly sends passwords and confidential information to a hacker
  • Your computer crashes or is hijacked because updates were not properly installed

These pitfalls have the potential to do some serious damage to your company that you’ve worked hard to build.

In a properly maintained network, everyone logs in through a central server where company files are stored and they are only allowed access to what they need to do their work.  Employees shouldn’t be allowed to install any programs they please onto their desktops.  Backups and Antivirus/Antispyware scans should be running each night.  Passwords should be strong, six characters minimum with letters, numbers and symbols if you really want to be protected.  A layered security approach will greatly reduce the malware that makes its way onto your computers.

Three ways to protect yourself:

  • Have strong passwords - use caps, numbers, letters and even symbols
  • Only give employees access to the files and programs they need to work
  • Employ a Layered Security Approach with more than just a simple antivirus program
